Transmission Hesitation & Jerks
Hey, so I've been having intermittent Gearbox Faults when I try to get up to speed from a stop, there's a chance my car "stalls", the engine is going but it's like the transmission isn't engaging or it's catching then slipping. I was just wondering if this was a sign of a worn clutch plate or a sensor possibly gone awry. Any help would be appreciated in helping me diagnose this issue 🙏
I have the same, probably caused by a broken lil microswitch that gets actuated by the infamous D switch that is mover by your gear stick.
Microswitches are rivered to a frame, I am afraid that this will not be an easy repair to do myself or just costly in parts ?
I am going to try to buy another microswitch that I can use as a substitute, not riveted but try to bolt it in place ????
Will gve it another go tomorrow or so and ry not to forget to take pics this time.

There are signs prior to circlip failure and the A drum damage. These can be hesitation and hard shifts. It's usually caused by a worn bore in the valve body assembly, it wears a ridge or groove that the valve sticks on, pressure builds and a hard shift or bang into gear. Enough of these and the circlip fails along with the A drum coming loose.

Apologies, its a 2000's XJR. Have you happened to have it happen to you? If so, how much were you looking at?
When was the gearbox oil replaced last time ? Try to pinpoint more is the engine what does the stall of is it really gearbox.

I don't know to be honest. As for pinpointing what else it could be, I'll tell you if I find anything.
MB gearbox can have various issues that can be result of the conductor plate. But allso oil in the round electric connector at the gearbox housing. Broken turbine lock will cause engine completely stall when this issue happends. This issue is really intermittent.
Buy an dip stick and measure oil level and look for oil color and smell it.

You have a light now? What is the code. This is the foundation and where to start solving this.
Next make sure the fluid level is correct.
Do you know how to check the fluid level? Or have you installed the dip stick mentioned up thread?

This was first thing in the morning. The car was still super cold.
This was after I drove my car for about 20 minutes. Went to the driveway and ran through the gear selector too.
This telling you lot anything?
This is my most recent check.
This was after I got back from a small trip. I parked her and ran through the gear selector two times with my foot on the brake and the parking brake on. This is absolutely bone-dry. I'm thinking it is a solenoid related issue.
