Transmission interchange question.
I have a 1998 XJ8 4.0 V8 with a transmission issue....go figure...But here is the question, I have an opportunity to pick up a ZF5PH24 transmission out of a BMW that I could have rebuilt and then change out the problem in the Jag. The question is does the ZF5PH24s in BMWs have common bellhousing bolt patterns that will bolt to the Jaguar engine. I am just a hobbyist with limited workshop area and so I don't really want to remove the transmission and have the car occupying the workshop for weeks while I pick up parts etc etc for the transmission repair..I can do the remove and replace in a couple days if I have one ready to go when I remove the old unit....Thanks for your time and attention....Dan
I see no reason why not. I rebuilt my BMW X5 transmission. It has a transfer case bolted on the back, so that and the bell housing would have to be swapped over.
Check out/download these files- one is the parts catalogue, and one is the repair manual.

EDIT: of course, you'd have to reuse your Jag torque converter as well. You'll have to do your research, but the basic transmission is the same.

look on Ebay for a rebuilt valve body with new solenoids. Easier to install on the bench.
Get the new improved A drum too.
I DROVE my car to Darlington, made several passes down the drag strip and drove it
home. Spend a little extra now takes a lot of worry out of things later. Make it bulletinproof.
