USA versus Aust prices..XJR
Saw a post where a member brought a '99 XJR for $2,300 in America
Here's what sellers think an XJR is worth here...although it seems a nice one/later model etc. but still...

Relatively speaking Jags have no love over here. New models sell ok, but used is like the plague over here. How's this for a "salesman"? A couple of months ago I pull into a dealership and he asks if I have two Jag, I look at him like he has two heads, and he says well your driving one so the other must be in the shop ha ha ha. Bad stigmatism over here with Jags wiring and reliability.
In USD, my car was 71k, 5 years later with 43k miles on her I paid a little over 21USD.

I continue to be amazed at the going rates for X308's in the USA. I purchased my black/black 1999 XJR in 2008 for $7500.00. Complete service history and near pristine condition. Since then I have invested about 5k in updating tensioners, fuel pumps, hoses, belts, tires, etc. The original sticker has it at $76k!! in '99. As long as I do most of the minor maintenance myself, with help on this forum and buying parts smartly, it doesn't really cost me any more to maintain than a Ford Taurus. And for a total $12.5k over the 6 years I've had it, I am not stuck driving a freaking "Hondayota" compact car- I am driving a supercharged Jag that still turns heads when I'm tooling around in it. It still feels like a very high end auto and a bargain price. I may not have all of the nav gadgets and stuff, but in the end the classic looks of the car and the sheer brute horsepower still makes me a little tingly, like when we used to climb the rope in gym class.

In UK we have a tax issue with used or new cars (high power) first registered after March 2001 - whereby Road tax is circa GBP 1000 on new sales and circa GBP 450 ANNUALLY on used models.
It's a pain as later models have factory SatNav and park sensors etc - but then you pay twice the Road Tax.

Im assuming you are talking about my car, since that IS what i paid.
However, you have to understand that it was not bought under normal conditions. It was a friend who didnt have time for the car and never drove it. He bought it from a well-off previous owner when he was working at an independent shop. The car needed fuel pumps, and the owner didnt care anymore since he had a few other desireable cars to drive. So thats the story. I have about 3k into it and have been offered 4k for it. I am considering selling it for that much, but wouldn't take less than that.
