valet mode help
So, my oldest child pushed the valet mode button, and we couldn't get it back out of it.
after reading through various posts we learned about the trunk light switch being bad. We took it out and fiddled with it, and managed to get it to turn the lights on, assuming that would pull it out of valet mode, which it appeared to do. We need to replace that switch, but can only find it as a part with the trunk latch itself, which we don't need . Does anyone have a source of purchasing just the switch with the plug, but not with the latch?
we got the system to read that the trunk is open and closed, but it still won't start.
it seems as though the brand new fuel pump we just put in it last week (which was working until this valet mode issue) isn't sending fuel to the engine.
Does valet mode turn off the fuel pump? And, if so, is there some kind of reset?
not looking forward to pulling the tank out again.
thanks for any help!

First off, what year, engine, etc... simply put it in your signature for quick reference for us. Ok, have you read this thread... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...99-xj8-112231/ ...since you now have trunk lights, thread #2 may be your simple answer. Toward the bottom, ericjansen states an issue regarding the latch to try.
Here is a list of other threads containing your issue... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/tags/valet/

Sorry, but none of those posts were helpful (and most I already read).
If the trunk is the only thing that stops working when you're in valet mode, then I guess we are out of it. And since nobody else seems to have a problem with the engine starting in valet mode, then apparently it's not related.
Back to square 1.

Yeah, that mobile sign in will not always post as with a PC/Laptop. So the key operation reengagement didn't work. I've also read where the boot latch has to be properly positioned, plus it is known to shall we say "develop and issue"....must be female.
This was a response on another forum only in an XK... "Mine had a hidden key hole under the "k" in the emblem closest to the trunk, but I've seen that some seized up after not being used for so long. You have to turn it to the left by the way."
Another response elsewhere, and this seems just too simple... "The locks can get confused and not work correctly. Sit in the car and manually lock all the doors. That will usually get the locking module sane again."
Almost all the responses said to use the black key, not the green.

Ok I got you on this. I have 3 full working Microswitch (light Boot open/off switch). And I changed each one of them to see if it would stop the boot open. My problem was different as it was a faulty latch. So the steps to do this is first press the unlock button on the key FOB. If that doesn't work then take the trunk latch out (3 t-30 screws) and pop the latch out and it will reveal the micro switch to replace, test the switch by pressing the the little button to push in. Some owners will unplug the Microswitch because it is faulty. (LNC6242AC)
Valet mode should never stop the car from starting. You've got a totally unrelated issue there.

In Valet Mode the black headed (master) key can be used to open either the Glove Box or the Luggage Compartment. Valet Mode is cancelled simply by unlocking the vehicle with the remote.
If you have a non-start issue it is a co-incidence not a consequence of Valet Mode.

Try resetting the inertia switch. It's behind the kick panel in the passenger footwell area. There's an opening you can reach your finger in and press the button down. The inertia switch cuts off the fuel pump among other things during an accident. If the switch is tripped (or inoperative) it could be causing your problems.

Either way will cancel.
