Default Varible Valve Timing Solenoid

has anyone worked on, replaced or cleaned the VVT. i get a ticking sound most of time now, which goes away for a while after i punch the gas. i believe the tensioners are still good with 2nd generations.

VVT issues are usually addressed by increasing the oil weight or adding an oil thickening additive such as Restore.
