Hi guys . My transmission was working fine for while now started problem again I want to try everything before replacing it . Now when I turn on the car then shift to drive it shifts fine then after about 10 minute stuck in 3rd gear and then it show gear box fault on the dashboard then if I turn off the car and start it again it will run fine for another 10 minute and then stuck in 3rd gear again .

Could it be stuck solenoid? Bad speed sensor?

You need to have the car scanned by a system capable of reading the Powertrain (P-prefix), Chassis (C-) and Network (U-) diagnostic trouble codes. Your car is going into Limp Home Mode, which locks the transmission in 3rd gear. There are many possible causes, and the fastest way to narrow down the diagnosis is by having the DTCs scanned.

Can your scan tool read Chassis (C-prefix), Network (U-prefix) and Body (B-prefix) codes? Most OBDII scanners can only read the Powertrain (P-prefix) codes.

Any signs of transmission fluid leaks at the oil pan gasket that could suggest your fluid is low?

Have you checked the electrical connector at the transmission for oil contamination?

Unfortunately my foxwell can't read that .

No leaks and fluid is clean and fine level .

Will check connectors and the abs sensors too

Found this I will clean the abs sensor as I have trac not available on the dashboard if didn't fix the problem I will change those sensors in that diagram hopefully it fix the problem . I believe the transmission is in good mechanical condition

Try inspecting and cleaning the electrical connector at the rear end of the transmission before you even think about opening up the transmission.

Is your speedometer misbehaving? That would be a clear sign of one of the rear ABS wheel speed sensors being contaminated or faulty. Off the top of my head, I think it's the right rear sensor that provides the vehicle speed signal but double check the documentation.

It's the rear right ABS sensor indeed -- I had this exact issue very recently (speedo at 0, + ABS/ASC dashboard error messages).
However, in my case it didn't trigger a limp home mode, just intermittent and very quick (aaaand very scary) shifting issues.
The sensor was not dead though, just covered in grease and dirt: cleaned it and that was it.

Either way, worth checking that out before trying anything more complicated (and costly, i'm guessing)
