Default Royal Purple 150%

After years of experience drag racing recreationally and building motors (hobby) I will never go away from Royal Purple. I have had email conversations with the guys at Royal Purple over the years as well over the lack of zinc in the oil today and they have always impressed me. They do it right in my opinion and the extra cost is worth the peace of mind to me.

For now I'm using Castrol GTX 50w30 but in the summer I'll switch permanently to Castrol Synthetic.

Mobil 1 0w-40, nothing else.

Regular oil analysis has shown that with my driving style (and extra power) I could stretch with ease to 10Kmiles OCI.

The manual calls for 5w-30 -- for normal use.

The dealers in the USA that I frequent use regular oil when they do the service -- I normally use Synthetic because I hit the two year time limit before I get to the miles.

I was using Castrol Magnatech 10-40 for years but recently I switched to Mobil 10-40. I know it is not the correct rating but 1st oil change I had 5 litres on Castrol and after checking several sources it said it was ok for the XJ8 so I bought another 5 litres and did the change. I use Champion oil filters.

A mixture of 10w-40 Castrol Syntec fortified with 2 qt of 20w-50 Redline.

Redline is one of the "pure" synthetics out there but you pay for its quality. Not sure if Royal Purple is Group IV or Group V like Redline.

Mobil or Castrol synth. 5 w30 whichever is the better deal. Change fluids in all my cars 2x a year regardless of mileage (do a lot of short distance driving).

exactly the same as "benebob" for me, winter oil changes and summer oil changes. walmart has awesome deals, you can get 5qt jugs of mobil 1 synthetic for around $22. I use motorcraft oil filters, part FL 2021.
