Replaced my passenger side wheel bearing. The sound of silence has never been so welcome. And it even managed to take out a good chunk of the rattle out of the front end. Leads me to believe that it had been going out well before it actually started humming on me.

Tomorrow will be emptying all the tools out of the trunk, for the first time in months. I no longer need them for anything on the car! The only things I have left now to sort, are going to be new end links (again - I really need to stop being cheap), and fix my driver's door actuator.

Took imy XJR to a cruise-in tonight and was the only Jag there. Parked amongst several Mustangs and the muscle car crowd liked it, but didn't know what an XJR was as they thought it was just a Luxo-barge. I'm a Mustang fanatic as I have one as well and I had fun with the other car guys.

I got my X308's tires rotated and balanced. Taking it on a road trip to AZ in July.

Yesterday I cleaned a few things, sorted something out that's been bothering me for a while and went on a nice afternoon drive with my dog.

I'm going to give her a wash shortly as she's a little bit dusty from some of the country areas I drove around.

Made the nearly 1700km drive home from uni. for the summer. VDP made it despite the engine death rattle and a bad RR wheel U-joint. Hoping to get that sorted out next week (the U-joint at least).

Pulled the pretty kitty out of storage and set to work vacuuming and detailing the interior. She's getting new rubber tomorrow and other goodies next week. Stay tuned.

Today I've also been working on my 20 spoke VDP summer wheels, painting between the spokes with a little can of silver Tremclad and brush. It's tedious work, but you can see the obvious difference

Off to the tyre shop tomorrow - ka-ching.

Since the summer is finally abbout to hit Sweden it was time to wash my car.. again.. and tidy it up on the inside.. I also removed the rear mudflaps and cleaned up behind them... since they are actually fitted quite poorly they are moving about in the wind and with dirt collecting behind them and the paintwork tend to wear down slowly..

I also took the time to replace the totally unreadeble display on the factory installed telephone.. the MOTOROLA 8700. Luckily the phone belongs to an era when it actually was possible to take them apart and replace bits and pieces inside them. The only thing you actually can not replace is the main cirquitboard since it is specially designed to be able to talk to the Jaguars interfacebox located underneith the armrest between the front seats. The display is mounted on a separate daughterboard witch also contains the contactpoints for the keypad, and after i VERY carefully picked the phone apart it was really easy to swap it out.
The parts you might need you can pick from a phone of the correct model. I collected a few so i in the future can replace either the display again or the plastic cover where the flipflop cover is mounted. The plastic tends to crack at the hinges.

Well.. new tyres got fitted as well.. :-)

/E

Today I get the pleasure of moving all the part-out inventory to inside my house (master bedroom as it seems). I got a letter from the home owners association. "Outdoor furniture only, NOTHING else" with the threat of a $50 fine.

My transmission fluid was a very opaque brown, and now it is not. Drained the TC as well since that had a plug, think I may have overtorqued that accidentally but as long as it doesn't leak... 8 bottles of fluid was just barely not enough to replace lost fluid, one more should do it, but even with the fluid a bit low it seems to be better already. Something I didn't expect was that reverse got much quieter.

Traced my strange trunk behavior to a bad inline diode, but then it turned out that was the wrong diode. The trunk light diode may still be bad, I haven't tested it yet, but now I need to figure out what that one goes to, just digging around in the electrical guide a bit. Or maybe just replace both and see what happens.

Much better than the exterior/mechanical! Aside from a worn drivers seat and the usual cupholder and headliner sort of things, it's in pretty good condition for a car of its age, maybe 7.5-8 out of 10. Enough not to worry about it for a long time. The biggest problem with it is that it's not black

LOL, I ended up washing both as it turned out.

The drive I went on was around the rural area I grew up, I went exploring some of the back roads I used to go driving round when I was younger. I took this photo of a little tunnel I used to go through a lot, it's very low and narrow. It makes me smile because I used to think it was a secret entrance when I was a small child.

Still rocking the good 'ole Motorola eh? My man

Yesterday afternoon I took the 100 into downtown Toronto for lunch with the ex - was quite the lovely time! Still needs a RF wheel bearing, secondary fuel pump, fuel tank sender, alignment, parking sensors sorted, etc.. but Gosh I love how that thing drives haha

This is EXACTLY how I imagined the English countryside as a kid when I was sitting in front of the TV with a box of Goldfish crackers watching Postman Pat (and his black & white cat).
