Postman Pat rulez! Back in 1993, in 3rd class, I drew a map of the Postman Pat island! And I won first prize in the map drawing competition

My Grandma knitted my younger brother a "Jess the Cat" toy when he was little because he was insanely jealous of my Postman Pat Van toy my Granddad had made me out of wood. Serious tantrums and fights would erupt every time I tried to play with the van. LOL

He used to make children's toys out of wood as a hobby and as a way of making a bit of money in his retirement years. Grandma was a keen knitter and could make anything out of wool. Both are gone now sadly, but their creations remain.

The "English Countryside" changes dramatically from place to place, it isn't the same all over the Island. For example West Lancashire is rather flat in comparison to East Lancashire which is very hilly. But there are places like in my photo hidden all over the place, you just need a keen eye and curiosity to find them.

OK. I'll be the first Yank to bite... Who the heck was (is?) Postman Pat? Someone like our beloved Captain Kangaroo (or for the younger set- Mister Rogers)? Inquiring minds want to know!

Finally got some garage time for the XJR. Going to upgrade upper pulley, powder coat some parts, replace knock sensors, a bunch of coolant hoses, and a few things I broke on the way. Also, getting bosch 010 pump and custom exhaust. Might get the injectors cleaned since they're accessible. Car should hold me over until I sell her and upgrade to a black XFR.

Thanks for the Enlightenment! Now I understand why cartography of his Island was such a big deal. Were there any Jags on the Island?

i was finally able to get some time to do some paint clean up.
Clay bar, wash, buffing and waxing. All great until I bumped the hood ornament and it fell off.
One step forward, two back I guess.

Anyone have a good fix for the ornament? I was thinking of using a long cotter pin to go through the ring in ornament, down through the spring then bend out around the edge of spring to hold in place. Not sure how they were originally attached cause no parts were found around garage after it fell off.

Today is a Bank Holiday in the UK, so is almost like a Sunday. This morning I woke up early and after breakfast and coffee I just went for a drive. Drove no where, just did a big 50 mile loop on various roads just to enjoy the drive. Love driving my XJ, I would've liked to have gone further but I had some things I needed to do.

Came home and gave her a wash using Auto Glym products. Now she's sat in the evening sun sparkling clean, turning the heads of everyone who walks past my gates.

Don't even ask how I fixed mine...I used Permatex Plastic Weld

Don't laugh, it's still on there even after many 200+ km/h pulls

Smarter than the average bear!

If you have the non-fixed one (the one which can move and rotate), at should be something like this.
They are all different, but the principle is the same.

Guess the mounting can be replicated easily if you don't have the parts any more.

Loaned out the Jag to a family member in need for a few days. It's back, with a bent antenna, a nasty brand-new door ding in the fender, the interior driver door skin hanging off on the bottom, and a piece of the front facia falling off (the little piece under the headlights on the passenger side). The right XJR grill was also bent inward at an odd angle.

Detatched the grill and managed to get it bent back into shape. Looks great.

Jammed the clips on the bottom of the door back into their homes, but they are still slightly loose and I suspect I'll be replacing them soon.

New antenna mast ordered for twelve bucks. I'll be having fun installing that in a few days. I was half tempted to try and install some kind of antenna-hiding kit instead, but for now I'm just going to keep it stock.

A few minutes figuring out how to rig up a temporary clip with some wire to hold the facia on until I can find a proper little clip to put it back the way it was.

Looks like it was caused by a low-speed impact. She swears she had nothing to do with it. Might have happened in a parking lot. Anyway, no harm no foul.

After all of this I decided to take a quick drive, and discovered one of my front speakers appears to be newly blown out.

Next time a family member needs a vehicle for a couple days, I'm just gonna rent them a car. It'll be cheaper.

"No harm no foul"?? Man, you're a lot more forgiving than I am! Kudos to your self-restraint!

Passed 170k miles on the way to work today. Hoping to do a center muffler delete this weekend, but that might get bumped down the list. a 5k in town to think about, and then installing a stereo into the Saab which requires complete re-wiring, plus trying to soak up all the water caused by a clogged cabin filter drain in that thing. But if I can get an expander and pipe and things in a hurry, then...
