Default Jaguar Hood Ornament- Leaper- Repair

Hey Guys,

I need to repair my leaper, I've checked out a few posts, the only problem is that I no longer have the spring or cap, just the leaper. Is there any way I can get this thing back on there?? I have some metal cable but I cant figure out how to attach it.

Thanks

Hey Bud,

Ya i did see that post, I think that is probably going to be my best bet for a fix, i don't have the spring or end cap anymore, so hopefully i can find something that might work at home depot

Thanks

Default Fixed!

Hey guys i finalllllly got around to fixing my leaper,

Also, I decided to make a new thread on this because I had NONE of the hood ornament assembly parts, only the leaper itself.

So, ended up going to home depot, and getting 2 feet of 1/16 wire, a set of 1/16 "Ferrule & Stop set" aluminum cable crimps, a mixed set of compression springs and i used 2 washers in place of the spring cap. Ran me about $6.

From there i was able to follow the instructions from the previous posts, I and I needed to cut the compression spring in order for a proper fit, but overall it was a quick fix!!

I am using 2 crimps as well, just in-case if one were to fail, there is a second to back it up.

Thanks for the help!
-Matt
