Default What Oil Filter?

Who's using what? Why?

I've used a Motorcraft FL2021 and a NAPA Gold 1228. The Napa was $18.00 and I know the Motorcraft was quite a bit less.

I've not had a problem with either. I'm just curious what others have used and whether or not there were issues or proven superior benefits.

The FoMoCo and Jaguar filters are the same, I think made by Wix which makes about 80% of the filters in the US.

The first part is correct, the second is subject to correction.

I've been using Bosch Premium Filtech for the last few changes. They seem well made with good feature list including silicone anti-drain back valve. Some filters say they have anti-drain back and some don't.

Plus they are black. I like that.

Thanks for the info test point! That's what I was looking for.

I'm sick and tired of overpaying for "pixie dust" on just about everything. Nice to know the $7.00 Motorcraft will do exactly what's needed.

I always use the Jaguar filter -- Same goes for the fluids - And the wiper blade.

I do that with most of my cars with great results.

Unless you cut them in half -- no way to tell what is inside. I also don't know any of the specifications of the aftermarket filter. The Jaguar filter is made in Germany - I had one in my hand last week - they are heavy suckers. With the amount of oil in the sump and the small number of times you have to change it through the life of the car the $10.00 difference is not worth it IMO.
