Default What Service Do You Suggest When Buying a Used Jag?

Hello Fellow Jag Enthusiasts!

I just bought a 2001 XJ8 with 74k miles and wanted to know what services I should get performed as soon as I take possession of the car? Oil and transmission service, of course. Radiator flush and fill, sure. Anything else anyone recommends? I want to keep this car purring!

Thanks so much!

If you don't know anything about the car you should stop into your local dealer and see if they can give you any service records or the original selling dealer - call the selling dealer and ask them for any information. I have found them to be helpful.

Many cars have been well cared for and may not need much.

You need to investigate the common issues with the XJ V8 - tensioners - water pump vanes - plastic thermostat housing. Plus general stuff like coolant - brake flush.

I'm not one of the "must change your transmission fluid" group -- but it is important to inspect for any leaks and have the level/ condition checked.
