Hi!

I own a 2001 XJ8 and when I go 65mph there is this annoying whistle that comes through the windscreen, and when I get toward 110mph it is unbearable. This is the original factory windscreen/windshield that came with the car. What could be the problem.

It's probably unbonded somewhere around the outside. You could seal around the edge with masking tape, see if that fixes the noise. If it does, there's definitely a gap somewhere.

You could get a windscreen service to unbond it and then put it back in again, or just get a new one.

 

Thanks for the response, I will try the masking tape to see if that works, and then call safelite or some other company.

 

Have you looked in the large file download area?? There should be HUNDREDS of TSBs for you to look at.
Jaguar addressed these issues over a decade ago so you don't need to rediscover all the faults on your own.

There should be a diagnostic matrix for wind noise and creak/squeak noise.
