Hi Fellas, I was talking to someone today who had a crazy name for their VW Golf, they called it Rini because the letters on the Number plate are RNI. It got me thinging about people who name their cars and why they give them those names.

My 2001 XJ is called Felix as in Felix the cat. It was my girlfriend who decided on this name, and that he is a boy.
My 1971 Triumph Herald is called Christine, who I named after the Stephen King book. I did this because she is always "biting" me when I work on her, and once she rolled forward and pinned me against a wall when I was doing something on her.

Anyways, who else has a name for their cars?

That is also my car's name when the situation requires it, though thankfully nit that often, and when it is required its normally because of something I've done!!!

My 2000 XJ8 is named "Miranda" from The Tempest. An emotional character name for an emotional car.

 

The XJR doesn't have a name, but the XJS is called The Mistress due to the fact that my girlfriend claims I spend more time with the car than her !

 

Christine b/c she is possessed!! I did see someone had called theirs diva bitch so that name suits some days also. 98 XJ8L

 

my wife calls my XJ6 my "midlife crisis". Does that count?
I told her it was better than hot flashes.

 

I call my XJR "Susan" and i don't know why

 

My wife and I call ours "Pretty Kitty." I tried to get a variation of that for the license plate but all my ideas were taken in AZ.

I'm so much of a loon, as well as having names for my cars, I've even got a name for my bus at work!! LOL.

 

My wife's jag is Vandy...which is very temperamental.

My F250 4x4 Powerstroke Crew Cab is Big Red...and the Edge controller/GPS unit in Red is Jane (she has a british accent).

My BMW 735i is Black Beauty.

My oldest daughter's red Saab is L'il Red.

My youngest daughter's Volvo is Bruno...

...and the names for laptops, video cameras etc goes on and on.

 

I don't have a name for my XK8, but the previous owner called her "Kitty"

 

I just gotta ask mjcioffi...does your car whine and cry and blame all your other cars when it fails? 8-)
