So, My 2003 XJR and I were sitting at a stoplight. Bam, someone ran into the back of me. Oh well.... While the car is getting fixed I wanted to explore removal of the leaper. I personally prefer the look of the Euro XJRs with no leaper. I took off the leaper and there are too many holes on the hood to easily fill. The body shop did not want to fill the holes and said that the hood looks like it is a little raised where the leaper was. Have any of you ever replaced the leaper with something else? Perhaps an XKR medallion? I am looking for something that does not stand out as much and is more nondescript.

 

I too think that the look of the European spec car is
very sleek sans leaper, but there is really no alternative
aside from a replacement hood. (which will doubtless
never fit properly, as spares rarely do in these cars, with
lots of massaging happening at the factory)

I do like the hood on that car, though. I have a non-R XJ8 with a leaper and love it, but the one in that photo is real nice.

I like the way the hood looks with the emblem. Any idea if it is a direct fit or does it require special work? Also wonder where I can get one?
