Default X308 Coolant Leak

Hi All

I have a coolant leak
X308R 1999
RHD

The waterpump has recently been replaced

The low coolant warning has appeared again - On inspection by me there appears to be coolant collecting on the engine belly pan - I removed this and have noticed a patch of coolant on the top of what looks like the sump cover under the crank pulley

I realise the crank pulley is directly under the water pump but there does not appear to be any residue of coolant between the water pump and the crank pulley, either in liquid or crystalised form

I suppose, what I am asking is: - Is there any way coolant could be coming out of the crank pulley area as there appears to be a lot of corrosion due to coolant in this area

I want to be able to go back to the garage to tell them they have done a crap job safe in the knowledge that they will not be able to turn around to say it is coming from lower down than the water pump

Of course, if anyone has any other ideas, I am open ears

Regards

No way for coolant to come from crank pulley. If the water pump is the problem it may only leak when the engine is hot and running.

The best way to locate the leak is with a pressure test kit.

I guess that was the clarification I was after, tho I am pretty pissed off with the garage that did the pump!!

Fyi, I had a leak on a new pump after only a year - turns out some aftermarket part supplier switched to a non-metal gasket, which deteriorated quickly. You could have the same issue - I might ask the shop what kind of gasket the part had.
