I've got an issue with slight thread damage. I've tried tidying up the thread using a wire brush and a junior hacksaw, but the issue I have now is when I install the correct hub nut, the nut goes 2/3 of the way on the shaft and then the helicoil winds out.

Two hub nuts later and I'm not going to waste my money on a third until I know I've solved the issue. If I can find a hub nut that fits and is one piece it will solve my problem as I can use it like a die. I read somewhere that some of the hub nuts off the older jags are also UNF and fit. So can someone please either let me know what model of Jag has a normal one piece hub nut (not a stupid helicoil nut) that fits the X308 half shaft or tell me what the UNF thread size and pitch is on the x308 half shaft?

 

have you got a 'nuts and bolts' engineering supplier near you? take the nut to match up? The X300 might work, also XJ40, Jag breakers like Eurojag may confirm and supply.

Out of interest, what's the torque spec?
