Talking x308 SUV Hauling capacity: what's the most cargo/people you've jammed into your x308?

What is the most cargo and/or people that you have jammed into your x308?

This may be a taboo topic for those who treat their x308 like a garage-queen, but mine moonlights as my SUV. I can fit an elephant in it if needed.

My record is 40 chairs and 18 glass 2-person desks, transported entirely in just 3 trips (all 18 desks in one trip, then the 20 black chairs, then the 20 white chairs)

On another occassion, I've moved
half-a-ton of "cargo" in my x308 VDP SUV

Here's just a few examples of things I've hauled with my old X308, I'm always careful about what I place inside the car, to protect the leather, but I've carried flat packs from Ikea, lengths of sheet materials and once I had my friend's tool chests in the boot when he changed jobs. That was two big chests and 3 smaller boxes all full of tools and equipment.

I packed at least 650lbs in her last holiday. 2 full sized adults and 2 kids in the back with all the baggage and ancillary's one would need. Drove over 5000 miles and never missed a beat..

Rode a little lower but so would I with that weight on..

Shall a thousand particles of sand find the crack of the back of your sweaty shorts.

Don't you find these ladies actually handle better with a bit more weight on board?
I often prefer to pack a sack of potatoes in the boot :-)

Oxygen Sensor (AKA Lambda Sensor) I just learned that replaced

On my 2002 xj8 the engine light came on. The code indicated O2 Sensor upstream bank one. ( passenger side top, the only easy one)

I got a Denso for about 45 USD from Rock Auto and in about 10 minutes work, replaced it. After a 10 minute drive the check engine light WENT OUT.

I am much happier that I should be.

I have a complete O2 replacement guide in the How To section if you need it. I simplified everything from the tools, to the process.

12 foot lumber
I drove it from home to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, about 260 miles. I took back roads to avoid cops. A hillbilly in a Jaguar is still a hillbilly.

The milk crate is a nice touch...were you that desperate for 12' lumber or was it right place, right time, get it now?

It would be difficult for me to use the Duchess in a role beneath her station. That said, I have had
four adults and their luggage for a 10 day stay up to Mackinaw and back and it was a comfortable
trip with seemingly, plenty of room.

I was going to use my truck but, wifes car was out of service. she, refuses to drive jaguars (?, yes), so she had to use the truck, I was not going to let the situation stop me. (High horse, thx for the music, loved the mongolian, and joe bonamasa )

The most I've carried in my car is me and a golfing buddy, two sets of clubs and two medium suitcases for the weekend. The most ridiculous thing I've carried is trim lumbar loaded inside from the parcel shelf and sticking out the sunroof.

two bags of cement on rear seats and six in boot is max i risk before it brakes boot shelf or rear bearings, but 4 rolls of rockwool fit nicely, once i filled xj40 up to the roof and crossed europe doing big chunk of journey with 240km/h speeds, no issues at all, and now i know those top limits on our cars are quite arbitrary.

Exclamation End of life for glued items

As luck would have it, earlier last year I replaced my missing rear trunk "Jaguar" plastic plinth I blamed on some miscreant thieving it, which more likely fell off simply from age of the glue, and then I notice, the "XJ8" plinth also fell out of its chrome bezel last week.

Shame on me for the bad carma. Now to find Found another that I should have bought in a pair in the first place, but as I am the only driver of 5 vehicles, it is just time to sell it to another custodian to enjoy !!

Beware all, these beasties glues are past their end of life expectation.

Oops, should have posted this in "What I did today..., but

I have loaded the boot with 20 bags of manure for the garden, then hooked up my 1200# tailer to the hitch and added dozen 2" x 4" x 8' boards with a couple of shovels and rakes, and a load of pavers, stone and sand. Ye HAAAAAA!! I added the trailer hitch when I was working a job in 'Bama needing to bring back my motorcycle and other garage stuff I accumulated.

I have seen one x308 photo as a pickup truck in progress from the back of the front seats. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ersion-127500/ That was @marky151 about 2014. No updated photos though ... but being built for cargo hauling.
