Hey all, just bought a 02 xj8 vanden plas I'm taking the car to Canada, and need daytime running lights, does anyone know if these come on this car?

No sir...you'll have to get them installed. Not cheap from what I've heard. Do a small search for "Daytime running lights" and you'll see we've covered it a bit.

 

ya I've read on here about them being programmed for the s type and x type, but not specifically for the xj8, so I thought I'd ask.

 

they have to be programmed. for xj8 or xjr

 

does this need to be done at a jag dealership, or now that ford owns jag, can a jag dealership do it? My home is 4 hours from a jag dealer, so I'm hoping the many local ford dealers can do some work for me.

Local Ford should be able to do it.

 

i don't think the ford dealers can do it.. they don t have the soft ware but they do have the same computer... if you see a landrover dealer they can definitely do it.

 

can any Ford dealer do this? what work can a Ford mechanic do on these? Picked up the car on the weekend, I'm in love!

 

I put the lights on auto, and covered the sensor on the back of the rearview mirror with black tape. Passed both the federal, and provincial safety inspections. cheap cheap cheap fix, and I don't have to have day time runners on either...... BONOUS!
