Default XJ8 Interior Veneer

Hi, does anyone out there know if the VIN plate on an XJ8 (2002) gives any indication of the actual veneer type in the interior of the car,so that in the event of damage to (say)the drivers side door veneer , a replacement can be purchased which is exactly the same as the rest of the car ? I have noticed that for example , the XJ8 Turbo car has a much darker veneer than what is in my car. I would be much obliged if I could get some help with this minute problem.
Oh, and by the way , happy new year to everyone on this most helpful websight.........Alan Murgatroyd

Yes it does. Won't mean a lot to you but to the parts department at the dealer it will.

Posting this link for reference only, not recommending you do anything with it but read the info. that's provided. VIN decoder. How to read and decode your VIN number

Happy and healthful new year to you and yours too.

Well yes it does, if you are willing to pay dealer prices for a new interior. I had an XJ8 with badly clouded varnish. I found a used dash and door cards on Ebay. Keep your eyes open.

Actually somewhere on your car, there should be a build sheet sticker. Usually in the glove box or under side of the spare tire cover. Don't know where it is on your car, others here might. It shows the codes for all the options your car came with, including exterior paint, interior colors, radio type, heated seats, etc.

Heavens to Murgatroyd! Welcome to the forums. Lol!

To be precise the R type is "supercharged" not "turbocharged" BTW.

Lot of mis-information in this thread. Jaguar in general and X308 in particular don't have a Built sheet/sticker in the car that list all the car options like most U.S cars
What you have is a label that list some of the computer modules types/programs
As for the wood veneer, they come as a matched set and you CAN'T get a single piece to match the set that came with your car

The wood parts from Jaguar are crazy expensive and they will only give you the part # ordered -- it is not matched.

e-bay is the best for these.

When I worked at the Jag dealer we would send out the veneer piece that was faulty to Madera Concepts because the only way to match the wood is to use the original OR order a COMPLETE set from Jaguar.

When we encountered the 'CLOUDY WOOD' on some model years we would send the ENTIRE veneer set even if only a few pieces were defective.

A VIN search might result in determining the wood TYPE (walnut, maple etc.) but you don't know the shade or grain of the replacement wood.
