xj8 tickover
hi ,can anyone give me a guide as to what the correct tickover rpm should be on a 1998 3.2 v8 mines seems to be sitting around 650 to 700 rpm, when i raise it very slightly the vibration goes.

thanks for the reply, have since found out that at least a top end rebuild is needed to cure a compression issue, and the car is at best not worth spending best part of 2 to 3 grand to fix. so looks like it is going soon.
Well, your idle vibration sounds totally normal to me. Are you sure your car has some compression issues? Which cylinders? Tried some thicker oil (sounds stupid but too thinner oil will result in more blowby and therefore less compression) or are your valves leaking?

My former Volvo garage decided that it was time to tell me my clutch was dead and that a new flywheel was needed. Clutch was totally fine. A screw was loose and that tightend resulted in a fix of the problem.
