Default XJ8 w/Electrical demon

My 2003 XJ8 has a n electrical/electronic intermittent problem.

On occasion, when the key is inserted into the ignition switch all power is lost and it will not start. After sitting for a period, an hour to several, when the key is inserted the power is back and it will start. Also just recently the cruise control works intermitently as well and the "engine warning lite" comes on. It goes off when the cruise is turned off.

Can anyone shed any light on these issues?

Thx,

Don

Welcome to the forum Don,

The Jaguar Forums Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Center is not for technical questions. Please let me know whether you have a steel bodied X308 or an aluminium bodied X351 (both were produced in 2003) and I'll move your post to the right tech forum for advice from members with the same model.

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see.

In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Which is the right forum for technical advice?

I am having difficulty navigating the site, It's confusing and unclear to me. I have completed the Garage info, cannot find the Signature, keep getting a popup "Urgent Message" which takes me to another site to download for reading mail and posts?

Just seems a lot more complex than it needs to be?

Thx,

Don

Don,

Please let me know whether your 2003 XJ8 is the earlier steel bodied (X308):

or the later aluminium bodied X351:

and I'll point you to the right tech forum.

Judging from the pictures mine is an X308 steel body. Curb weight is 3946 lbs.

Sounds like an X308 for sure. There have been a lot of posts about grounding and power posts lately, causing a no power situation. The cruise control thing has been mentioned in relation to the brake switch. Maybe someone will chime in with personal
experience, or try a search of the archives. Welcome and good luck. It sounds like you have one of the latest X308s.

Don,

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
