XJ8 wing mirror unit removal
Dear members
last night someone kindly ripped both of the wing mirrors off of my 2000 xj8 x308 3.2 . I have managed to source some replacement ones fairly easily and luckily the ones I have still function ( they are quite tough components actually ) The wires are all still connected and all work ok. My question is how easy is it to remove the unit from the door and replace ? Does anyone know of any video or photo posts about this subject? I thank you in advance for your time.

Ottomoss,
I assume you need to replace the whole mirror(s).............
First you need to remove the triangular plastic cover on the inside of the door. It is held on by a long plastic clip, but also some sticky black goo that runs down the long side of the trim. Using a razor or sharp knife ease the piece away and cut the black goo, and slide the piece up to unclip it. Once you have the trim piece off you will see a large Torx screw that holds the mirror in place. Should be self explanatory from there.

Hi there
I hope you are well.
I must send sincere apologies for not thanking you for your reply. I am new to the forum and didn't quite get the way it worked and it seems that my reply never went.
Your advice was very helpful and the problem was resolved quite easily once I had seen this .
Good luck and thanks again !!
