XJ8 and XJR transmission question?
I have a question and can only seem to find answers in the s-type area. Problem is I dont have an s-type. I have at the moment a 2001 XJR. My question is, is there an adaptive learning program that effects both the NA and supercharged transmissions for X308s? I had this question when I first purchased my 2003 XJ8 but never got an answer. I then purchased a 1999 XJR and everything was as expected. Now I have a 2001 XJR and I have the same question. I know they have sport mode and I thought this would cancel out any type of adaptive features, but first my 2003 XJ8 seemed to be to lax with gear shifts and now my 2001 XJR. My 99 XJR would shift at 6,000rpm or 6,100rpm in sport mode with selector in D position all the time.
While the NA 5HP24 Transmission Control Module has a number of 'programs' for normal, sport, low speed traffic, traction control, cruise mode and gradient mode there is no reference in the technical documents to 'learning'.
About the only thing that the car 'learns' is fuel trim based on O2 sensor input.
Can't comment on the XJ/KR Mercedes transmission. I haven't seen any technical documentation on that.

I didnt think so, and I read through the technical articles on both transmissions from multiple sources. Just wanted to make sure. Maybe the pedal isnt adjusted to the bracket or the throttle cable is off. Just happened with two X308s now, and I realize they have different transmissions.
Thank you
Thank you
