Default Post fix Video...Xjr acting like a ***** and surging like it is on 20 coffee's

Its raining so the trac went on but since its surging erratically. First restricted performance with the yellow engine light and now rpms up and down. Its like the car wont disengage traction, goes fast and then cuts out then fast and cuts, when im at a redlight the car is jumping forward then dies etc...Now just the yellow engine light, usually a re-start would fix other electrical issues but now, hasnt worked. Any suggestions? I tried disabling the trac and still nothing.
Thanks

Unplug and clean the Throttle Position Sensor connectors at the throttle body. There is a TSB regarding the mixing of tin and gold pins in this connector pair which causes corrosion. I had the exact symptoms, most often when it was very humid or raining. Cleaning the pins (both in the throttle body and the harness side connector halves) with Radio Shack contact cleaner with lubricant (made for old style TV tuners) has eliminated the problem for almost a year now.

If this does fix your problem, Jag has a pin replacement kit for this connector that will eliminate the corrosion issue permanantly, but cleaning first will tell you if this is your problem.

Thank you so much, it has been raining for days and i washed the engine 2 days prior. It has the exact same symptoms as if you were giving her in the rain and the traction control kicks in. I will give it a try.

Hey River, had to adjust your title slightly, not a problem this time, just think about how others might feel befoe you hit 'send'.

Hope you get, your jumping cat sorted.

We're cool, after you have tried Quad's suggestion, please post up your results.

It's how we all learn.

Default Runs like a champ, i will post a vid

Just cleaned the throttle sensor connector and the maf connector, the engine light stayed on for 10 minutes. After that, all went away, no dummy lights and runs like a champ. Thanks, made my life easy...hope it will keep working over a few heavy rainfalls.
Video is posted below.

Another good product for cleaning electrical connexions is "Electrolube". Some of the good old-boy radio/tv technicians often have a tin stashed away in their sheds. Also plug and unplug the connector a few times -- this wears-off the oxidation. You never get problems when both sides are gold plated, as in computers.
