maybe loose wiring connections on the back of the clock? the center wood dash panel that is around the clock pulls out, you can pull on it near the bottom left and right side of the panel. then the airvent assembly that the clock is secured in is just screwed in, you could take it out and take a look at it.

Yes, they need to come off, at least the one on the driver side. Grab it inside the gauges and pull gently but firmly. It's scary the first time, but it does pull off. I was unable to get the passenger side off, but found a way to pull the clock out from under it. It's been a while, but I remember it being a little challenging. (I had to replace the bulb in my clock)

PS: Once out, use electrical cleaner to clean the clock and maybe oil it (WD40?) and see if that fixes it. If not, maybe the internals have given up. I remember considering replacing mine and found a brand new one on ebay at that time for $25 US. Not sure how much they are normally, but that seemed pretty good.

I need to replace the light in my clock so maybe I can get to it from there.

As far as oiling a clock with WD40 I'd think that wouldn't be so good as WD40 works at first and after a few days turns into a sludge.

There's a spray lubricant called Tri-Flow that I would try on something like that, but I'd go minimal. It's a spray teflon and puts an extremely thin layer on surfaces.

Tri-Flow was recommended to me by locksmiths. They insisted it was the only thing to use in locks, and said that WD40 was about the worst because of the sludge.

I use Tri-Flow in all locks like the ignition and door locks as well as house door locks and door striker plates. It's a very good product. I used it to lubricate an old Speed Graphic camera I have.

Buy a replacement - the clock is quartz and oiling the hands isn't going to help, I'm sure you can pick something up for under $30. Your only going in once this way
some here in the UK cheap.

Just remembered, there's 2 different types of clock, white stick markers/chrome markers... which is yours?

Removing wood dash panels
My center air vent broke, and i have to remove both side panels to install it. Hints for how to get them out? They are really solid.

Sorry if my post if off topic, i'm new and having trouble navigating site.
