Default XJR radio/nav/phone

I've got a 2001 XJR with the original radio/nav/phone system. I've owned the car for 7 years now, and it seems that there has never been any support for this type of system, so the navigation (GPS) and telephone do not work. I'm looking at the options of either replacing the unit with something newer or finding some way to get the original systems to work. If anyone has found a unit that will fit nicely in the existing space, or has been able to get the system to work, I'd appreciate knowing about it. Thanks

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Center to X308 forum. The Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Center is for posts about the forum and not for tech questions.

Members here with the same model will be able to help with alternative solutions to replace the OE Audio/Navigation/Phone.

What do you mean by the navigation don't work?
Are you sure that you have navigation in the first place?
All radios show the phone/nav buttons but only a few cars had the nav or phone

Hi Luc:
Thanks for the feedback.
I have no idea whether the system ever worked during the years before I owned it. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't, it doesn't matter. What matters is that I'm looking for a newer unit to replace it, one that has all three functions that work.

Default radio replacement

The biggest problem with replacing the radio is that you cannot use a double DIN unit as there is a large structural beam blocking off half the opening.
The links below show members who have used single DIN replacements

Actually, you can fit a double din unit, but it's not an easy task as Pete said, because there's a metal bar across the back of the headunit, and an airbag sensor behind it as well.

Check out the second page of pictures

There have been a few other options people have tried, including removing the screen from a double din unit and running an extension cable to the main body, which gets hidden elsewhere.

I'm still looking into options as well... there are a few tablets out there that do FM radio, which may prove to be the simplest option

:edit: found a better pic

here's an example of separating the screen from a double din headunit
