Default XJR Relay location

Can't seem to find the location of the box for the HO2 sensor heater Relay -- In both the Main and the Supplement manuals they list it on the passenger side of the engine compartment -- can't find it.

Any ideas ?? Its in with seven others -- ???

I'm doing some basic stuff to see if I can get to the bottom of the P1647 code

Default Timing Chain and Vin #

I have been reading a lot about the timing chain issue since finding this forum a little while ago.

My 02 XJR has a build date of 09/01 and VIN ending in MF45829 -- some indicate a tensioner change over for the engine of 08/01. But that would only be to the second type of tensioner.

Am I correct that none of these have the metal ones installed?

My car has always had some start up metallic sounds -- The dealer has always indicated that all was normal ??

There is no direct correlation between VIN and engine serial number. Any dealer can look up the engine serial from the VIN. The first engine with metal tensioners was made on August 13, 2001, too close to call on your car. Engine serial number would be 010813hhmm.

Here is the relay layout. The O2 heater appears to be the rear half relay in the firewall extension on the right side. Forgot you couldn't download yet.

[QUOTE=test point;207682]There is no direct correlation between VIN and engine serial number. Any dealer can look up the engine serial from the VIN. The first engine with metal tensioners was made on August 13, 2001, too close to call on your car. Engine serial number would be 010813hhmm.

The engine number is stamped on the top of the engine, left front, by the thermostat housing - you can read it with a properly aimed penlight without having to disassemble anything. It will tell you the date and time the engine was made, eg engine number 9810210631 was made October 21, 1998 at 6:31AM
