Apologies if this question has been answered before in the past but I’m interested to know if ALL X308 XJRs had the same embossed XJR logo on the leather on the centre of the steering wheel?
I ask as a car I’m looking at appears to not have it and just has the Jaguar roaring face embossed on the leather. It is the expected leather / wood combination but just looks like standard XJ8 or Sovereign.
I’m concerned it might have been crashed, airbag gone off and replaced with the wrong wheel!

My 98’ XJR has the “XJR” embossed in the steering wheel air bag.

My 03’ Super V8 does not and it has never had a wreck.

 

Could always research the VIN# & check it's history for crashes.

 

XJR model will have the letters XJR ,XJ8 has the Jaguar animal face

XJR 100 will have only the Jaguar style racing R logo

 

Mine xjr has roaring cat. I don't think it has been ever changed.

I’m beginning to think having just the roaring cat embossed on the wheel may have been part of a slightly less sporty option pack, I’ve seen a few XJRs now which seem to have this non-XJR steering wheel along with a different type of wood on the dash / doors, maybe a more traditional burr walnut as opposed to the darker Birdseye maple or whatever the standard was for the XJR. More like the Sovereign interior I guess.

Ive just got hold of an old 1998 or 99 X308 brochure with all the options available at the time, some enjoyable reading for later! 😁
