2000 XJ8..... I bought the car with the radio not putting out any kind of sound and antenna not working. Display worked and in trunk changer worked but no sound. I had a no start issue, after picking the car up I now have static only and the antenna works. The shop said they cleared all codes when checking no start. Don't know why that made the antenna work and finally get at least static in speakers but it did. I het search button and the radio stops on all local stations but just static. I play a CD and the display shows each track and time of song playing but still only static.

 

There are 2 ICE systems. Premium Sound and Standard Radio Head unit. There is an AMPLIFIER in the boot for Premium Sound.

You might check the back of the radio head unit to see if the aerial lead is connected?? Make sure all the plugs in the back of the head unit are connected.
