Question 1988 XJ40 Heater/Air Blower Problem

Hope all of you are doing well....
Here's what I've observed so far.....When turning on the climate control fan speeds it only gives out low speed and sometimes nothing ,no matter what the temp setting is on. I can hear the air cond. compressor turn on and the dampers on the dash close and open. The mode light that indicates Man or Auto does not work. Some cool air trickles out of the vents when the air is on.Read something about a resistor that can be installed at one of the control panel ternimals????
Thanks all in advance for your imput!

Thanks fall4it. The new link is:
http://reocities.com/MotorCity/downs/4487/xj40book.html

and you want to look at section 6 about two thirds down the page.

As I mentioned in the thread I can't confirm the accuracy because I didn't write the book.

Hope this helps a little.

Cool Blowers or heater/ac control assy?

The blowers stopped working on my 90 Sov (165K). Looking through various posts and my shop manuals it would seem that if LED lights are not working (mine are not) its more likely to be a control assy problem. Comments please.

stay safe

I just got back to that '88 yesterday. Haven't had the time to make much headway. Will know better after I remove the driver's side blower.

Default my heater

For some reason my heater works very strange. When you turn it onto full for the windscreen it blows hot air for the windscreen but when you want it to heat the rest of the car, the heat barely blows out of the heater, you can here it but nothing really comes out, and it only comes out hot it never comes out cold

Hia. Im new here, but I had a funny problem with my heater blower about a month ago. I managed to fix the problem (just before the cold set in!!). I have done a little troubleshooting guide here (Click on heater blower trouble shooting, it will open a PDF) which may or may not help, but I though I would share the info just in case it does help someone out
Good luck, hope it helps!! Esta-Jane

Welcome Esta Jane, why not post up some more info about yourself and your projects in the New Member area. You will surely be most welcome.

All the very best for your continuing apprenticeship.

Hey Jim, I thought that I would bring this to your attention. Always good to have a new member such as this. Currently in the XJ40 section, under Heater Blower Problem.
