Default 1988 XJ40 Oddity?

I know there were many changes in the seven years that the XJ40 was produced, with various trim levels, different headlights, taillights, chrome trim, wheels, modules, etc. My car happens to be an '88 VDP and I've yet to see another XJ40 with the same style door panels as mine. Maybe it's because mine was an early production model ( January 1988 build date). Does anybody else have door panels similar to mine? They are more like the X300 panels than the later square looking XJ40 ones. Here's a couple of pics. Another thing is I don't have a factory alarm or module in this car. Is this odd or just typical of the early production models? 1988 XJ40 Oddity?-dscf0137.jpg

I took an early one to the crusher last month that had that interior - VIN was 549970 (limited room and almost nothing fit my 94)

..although I did keep all the woodwork and a few other bits

The thing I remember about the VDP was the weird door interior trim and the 'hard-as-wood' seats.

Our '93 VDP had Autolux leather and nice soft seats. Of course, over the years I probably used $200 worth of Leatherique Rejuvinator oil....

Maybe it was just the Series III VDP seats that felt like park benches??

My '88 is the exact same way, the same door cards, and no alarm, which I seek to rectify once it stops raining in Indiana.
