Default 1991 VP Body Control Module

Can anybody tell me how delicate the body control modules are? Is it easy to fry the electronics? I failed to disconnect the battery and ever since I pulled my center stack (radio, ac, clock, etc) when putting it back I scrapped a couple of wires bare with the radio chassis. Since then, my clock ceased working, my turn signals stopped working and my interior lights stopped working although my little map light still works. It also appears my rear window defroster does not work. I have reviewed the PDF of the 91 wiring diagrams (what a headache) and everything I see points to the BCM. Thanks in advance for all of your input.

I have had success with replacing the output transistors on a few BPMs. It was many years ago and I forget what stopped working but if you open the case and see fried semiconductors, you know that it might be your problem. They should be on the outer part of the case on a heat sink strip. They should be TO202 style output transistors.

It also might be cheaper/easier to find a salvage yard component and replace it.

If your investigations point toward needing a replacement, note that on the XJ40s Jaguar called the unit the Central Microprocessor or CPU, so that's what you'll need to shop for. The Body Control Module terminology was introduced with the X300.

Cheers,

Don
