1993 XJ6 Suddenly won’t start
I’ve been driving my car for a few weeks since my last repair and everything was working as it should. I pulled into the driveway at home one night and shut the car off no problems. The next morning I go to start it and it won’t fire. The starter turns over but that’s pretty much it. Although it did fire a few times after sitting for a long time but basically it seems like there’s no fuel. My guess is the times it did fire were from gas fumes left over. But I can’t imagine the fuel pump would just go while it’s sitting. How could it run perfectly fine before to not running at all after sitting overnight. I’m thinking electrical but I’d don’t know what it would be. Any thoughts?
If you turn on the ignition and can hear the fuel pump run, then you more that likely have a working fuel pump. The rotor can go high resistance in these cars causing a weak or no spark. That can be enough to prevent the car from starting, of course there are also other causes of a no-start condition, but that's one to check out.
See if you have a good strong blue spark.
