My 93' xj6 cranks but wont start.
When I first noticed a problem, it would start. but it would rumble rumble and then shut off. Now, It will crank, but it wont fire up... Fuel pump? Im brand new to these cars so forgive me if im being a n00b. yes i added premium fuel 1000% of the time.
Help?

Hi twistin420,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! I have moved your thread from the forum for the X300 to the forum for the X40, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your 1993 XJ6.
There are a few easy things you can check on your car:
1. Sit in the driver's seat with the doors closed and windows rolled up so you can hear a quiet sound. Turn the key to Position II (Ignition ON) but do not start the engine. Listen for the sound of the fuel pump running for a second or two in the fuel tank behind the rear seat. If you don't hear it the first time, crank the engine to dissipate the fuel pressure and then try the test again, turning the key to Position II and listening for the pump to run. If you don't hear the pump at all, suspect the fuel pump relay (mounted in the right rear inner fender near the tail light assembly), the fuel pump itself, or the fuel pump wiring circuit.
2. While cranking the engine, watch the tachometer. It should read approximately 200 rpm while cranking. If it reads 0 rpm, suspect your crankshaft position sensor (CPS), a very common cause of starting problems.
3. Check the Vehicle Condition Monitor (VCM) for a stored Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC or "fault code"). Turn the key to Position II but do not start the engine. Watch the small display window below the Speedometer & Tachometer in the instrument cluster for a message such as FF69 or Fuel Fail 89. If you find one code stored, it is possible there are others, but the system will only display them one at a time, so if you find one I'll let you know how to look for others.
Please report back with the results and we'll go from there.
And since we're a friendly group, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and post an introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.
Cheers,
Don
