Default 90 xj6

I have a 1990 XJ 6. I was changing the ignition coil and somehow crossed the wires. The red and white go to positive, the black and white go to negative on the coil. The mistake I made is that the wire that goes up to the head and is a ground was put to the positive. That wire burned out. I put in a new wire from the head ground to the negative on the coil. When I turn on the ignition I have power on the positive of the coil but no power on the negative even when I crank over the engine.
The coil has no spark from it.
Lastly there is a small what I think is a capacitor which is joined from Positive coil to body, could that be a problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
