92 XJ40 Starting problems (contiued)
JagtechOhio....my starting problem seems to have dissapeared (crossing my fingers) as it has not happened again from the time of the last post. I now have a new one though....today the car was running fine for most of the morning.....then it started to run rough through speeds on acceleration....I stopped it at home and now it wont start at all.....I am going to check spark at the plugs as I have had trouble with the coil in the past (cracked terminal insulation) and I have been pushing the replacement off. Any suggestions with this problem? In any case I want to get one from you for all your help if you have anything on hand.....
Thank you,
Brian

Pull the coil wire from the cap and hold it about 1/2" from ground, crank the engine and it should still shoot strong blue spark. Pop the distributor cap off and have a look at the cap and rotor, the center carbon brush in the cap might be toast and the rotors can fire through to ground on the dirstributor shaft. Might just be a rotor.

JagtechOhio I think you are right on again. Based on the looks of the inside of the rotor socket it seems to have been shorting to the dist shaft. Thanks! Do you have access to my email address? (or should I post it?)...I think its about time I bought some parts from you.
Thanks again,
Brian
