okay im looking to put a new k and n air filter in my 88 xj6 this is my first jaguar so im a bit hesident on what i get im looking at getting a high performance one but im not sure if its gunna be pulling air from places it doesnt need to be pulling from any suggestions?

 

to clarify are you talking about just a k and n replacement filter element which obviously just replaces the original filter element or are you talking about an air intake system? if you are talking about an air intake system it would probably have to be one of those semi universal types that is not much more than a tube with a cone filter on the end which draws air from inside the engine bay which isn't ideal because although you get more flow the air will be hot which in turn isn't good for horsepower

better if you can figure out some way to draw in cooler air from somehwere outside of the engine bay or some guys leave the filter in the engine bay but fabricate a shield or encloseure to segregate the filter from the heat
