AJ133 V8 + trans swap on XJ40

Welcome to the forum.
Although the idea of keeping it "pure" by using the AJV8 drivetrain is appealing on paper, it would be soooo much easier to go with an LS-something and GM transmission.
You will also struggle fitting a quad-cam V8 into an XJ40 XJ6 engine bay... the V12 XJ40's had to have the engine bay re-worked in order for them to fit (long story).
And there is not any aftermarket ECU and TCM that I know of which will happily run the ZF 6HP from the Jags, you would have to change the internal mechatronic to a Ford one.
Not to mention that an LS-something will cost you $500, but a Jag driveline will be multiples of thousands...

Thanks an ajv8 would be hard to fit and I'm not prepared to rework the engine bay...although I'm considering a significantly cheaper aj16 4.0 litre out of the x300s and fit the aj6 ignition system onto the aj16 block to work the ecu, thanks for the idea for a gm trans as I'm looking into the 4L80E. Is this a good idea? feedback would be much appreciated.

Where are you located? Deer Park in which country/state?
We have a Deer Park in Melbourne, Australia... are you there or somewhere else?
EDIT
I should have looked closer, yeah that Deer Park...
Have you considered the driveline from a Falcon XR6 Turbo or F6 Typhoon? Will be a lot easier fit than a V8... and easier to get hold of...

Melbourne
yeah I have but I'm still on my p plates so I'm looking for something that would look original so the aj16 would be ideal...I love the barras but I also love the whine of the supercharger that can be installed on the aj16
yeah I agree I have scrapped the v8 idea

The AJ16S with the supercharger has quite a few differences from the naturally aspirated AJ16, it would not be a case of just bolting the blower on later.
Also it's damn near impossible to rebuild an AJ16 or AJ16S now, a lot of parts are obsoleted.
If it were me, I'd look at putting a naturally aspirated Barra in first, then when you're off your P's it won't be a huge job to swap in a turbo version as a lot of the hard work would have already been done.
