Default Alarm and Starting issues

just purchased XJ6 3.2 1992

There was no fob with this car and have noticed wiring to alarm siren is diconnected, so guess fob was lost.

On the side windows it has 'Jaguar Specialist Security' stickers on them, I have a couple of questions about this

1) when car has been left overnight, it wont start when in 'P' have to put car in 'N' and it starts to beep but will then start ok is this normal

2) if I can work out which alarm I have, I believe there was two for this time period, apart from getting FOB from dealers would I have to pay to have it synched to alarm

3) before I buy a fob where is the alarm normally located and is there anyway to test it

thanks
