A couple months back I saw a 1990 Vanden Plas for sale that had a wooden steering wheel with gold spokes. I thought that someone had just changed the steering wheel. Then a few days ago, I saw another XJ40 with the exact same steering wheel. I have tried to google it but nothing. Was there a special edition that used that steering wheel?

Momo make an aftermarket wooden steering wheel for the XJ40 which seems to be reguarly seen. Some have a wood centre pad, some come with a leather one. They sometimes have polished spokes, so maybe it was one of these with the spokes gilded.

It was wood around the outside, but they both had gold spokes, three if I remember right. I was basically just curious if there was a specific edition that a wood wheel was fitted to, as I had only seen it a couple of times. Thanks for your thoughts on it!!

 

I believe there is no a specific edition for the steering wheels , aside from Daimler vs Jaguar .
In Daimler models you can see Daimler script where there is a growler (cat head) on Jaguar steering wheels
