Default Brake Issues

On my 91 I've been having some brake problems, I started to notice that at stop lights the pedal would sink to the floor. After some research I decided to replace the master cylinder but with this being a teves system a new one is ~$1800 so I picked up on out of a scrap 93, replaced the master cylinder, booster and abs block all at once, bled the brakes(I had to look up how to to this too) and the end result. Possibly worse than when I started. The thing is if I'm going down the road and slam on the brakes the car stops fine, and the abs works. I have an accumulator sphere on order but I'm open to suggestions on other things to test/replace because I need my car and I dont feel safe driving it like this.

Are you sure you bled the brakes correctly. The fronts are bled like any other vehicle, but on the rears you have to turn the key on and let the pump push the air out (do right side first then left side). Usually after they are bled it should take a few minutes for the pedal to come up,then they should work fine.

limegreenclown.... I had similar problems w/ a Teves system on my Reatta. Took a while to sort it out. THere is a procedure to test for a faulty component on a Teves system, for the Reatta, and it may also be a usefull tool in diagnosing your problem. Go to aaca.org, goto forums, goto Reatta, and do a search. There are plenty of threads on the Teves. Hope this is helpful in diagnosing your problem. (Also, PM sent on another subject). David.

Thank you for your responses. I have checked out the reatta site and it is helpful. My accumulator should be in tomorrow so my plan is replace that and re bleed the brakes

Just got the accumulator in, put it on and I had pedal for a second and then a front brake line split on me. So I've ordered a set from david manners and they'll eventually get here

On the plus side, at least now you can get pressure in the system.

Bust brake lines, not withstanding.

Hope all goes well.
