brake pedal feel
Hi All
Recently acquired XJ40 3.2S seems to drive ok but I notice that the brake pedal appears very firm and seems to require a good push (compared to my day to day Eurobox run arounds) The car stops ok and seems ok, no warning lights re braking system. Just wondered if such a firm pedal is the norm on these cars.

Not "normal" as you ask.
I would suspect the "bomb" on the brake system is flat, it happens, it is a service item, and does not last forever. Most I have read about have had extreme success by simply replacing that item.

Does your brake pedal release as soon as you get your left foot off the pedal ? Mine was rock solid and required an effort compare to other Jags I have driven and our other rides that we own .
I reported that problem and turn out to be a master cylinder was shot .
My pedal is still stiffer than other rides but feels softer than ir used to be , what an improvement
