I am trying to bring my 92 xj6 back to life. It "cranked when parked" in 2001... I do believe that statement as its a family car. I had keys cut yesterday so the first attempts at getting it to start happened. It is quite possible I'm not getting fuel but I like to tackle one issue at a time and I for sure know I am not getting spark. I ordered a factory service manual so until then I am sure I will have a lot of questions. Off the bat where should I start with this no spark issue? I doubt so but is the inertia switch tied into the ignition on these at all? I am going to run out shortly when the sun comes up and start testing the coil now that I dug up specs from jag, but any leads or help would be much appreciated!
If it cranks over, look at your rev counter. if nothing moves, you should look at the crank position sensor (CPS). if the rev counter does show cranking revs, move on to ignition distributor components etc.

Tach dances and gets up to 200rpm off the starter like I would expect. So cps should be at least good enough I would think. Im not sure the ignition is even getting 12v but I'll have to check when I'm off work.
Check the rotor, as these are known to fail. There's an embedded (potted) electronic component in the arm that can go high resistance and cause a weak yellow or no spark at all.

Rotor checks out. Fun and simple question. Did the 1992 years have a immobilizer tied to the key? I am not seeing any security or dash lights indicating so. But I cant seem to find a definitive answer online for this specific year/model.
I don't think this is a immobilizer issue but maybe I'm wrong? I don't have any red security lights and most of my research points to the US market not having immobilizers. After getting a new coil on there I am getting spark! So now my attention has turned to fuel, not getting 12v at the pump.
Applying the R815 plug to the 12v test plug in the trunk yields no prime from the fuel pump. So I believe I have tracked my issue to the "unreachable" areas. Guessing the fuel tank has got to come out to access the protection module and pump?
