Default Convert to old Gauge cluster possible?

Hey!

I am one of those few people who feel that the 1990 and onwards gauge cluster wasn't very pretty.

I love the 87-89 cluster though. I have heard a lot about these being awfully unrealiable and I'm sure that is true.

However, my questions is this, is it possible to take an 87-89 cluster and install it in a 90-94 XJ40? Or is it very complicated?

Cheers!

Richard

Richard,

I recall someone within the past two or three years doing a conversion from the digital cluster to the analog cluster. If I recall correctly, he did a fairly extensive write-up with pics. Do a search of the XJ40 archives on this forum for the cluster conversion. You may need to use several keyword combo's to find it, and sort through several pages of threads, but it does exist. I would think you would have to reverse engineer what he did. You will also have to have the electronic and electrical schematics for both clusters to pre-map the conversion.

I remember that - the dash swap was from a digital dash to the later analogue kind. It was done by Trick Freestones and was quite an impressive undertaking. I will have a look for it.

I also prefer the digital dash, but will leave my analogue as it is!
