Cracked plate behind dizzy
Hello, I am looking for yet more advice. 92 XJ40 4.0. At the right hand front side of the engine behind and slightly above the distributer there is a small plate bolted to the engine with 2 bolts. It is ovalish in shape and has a circular center. In my case this plate has been cracked by a previous owner due to overtightening of one of the bolts and it now leaks oil. My question is, can I safely remove this plate and replace it with a spare (I have another car for parts) or if I just unbolt it, will I have a host of other problems with bits of tensioner etc dropping down inside the engine.
Still no joy with the locking issues I have searched through and tried to follow all the other posts. After a soft reboot the car started to give a regular beep, beep, beep, which stopped with ignition on, but started again with ignition off. The only way I found of stopping this was to disconect and reconnect the lead to the remote sensor in the headlining. This then gave a longish low tone beep and stopped the sonar style beeping.
Once again thanks in advance for any leads.
