Another diagnostic question, I have a 1993 XJR-S with that odd ball Zytec computer system, anyone know of a diagnostic scanner / computer that will interface to the pcm ? I read elsewhere the actual Zytec system will run 10-12K if they will even sell it

the computer you are looking for is a tool that jaguar has and i thing that they is only one kit that still works and i dont think that they we let anyone but jaguar techs in dealers use it. the system was very basic. what is wrong with your car?

 

The Jaguar PDU (portable diagnostic unit) is the only thing I know that will communicate with 1990 to 1994 Jaguar ECM,TCM and ABS. It is a CD based system with a SMALL memory capacity and each application has to be loaded for each desired model and function.

Lately all the CD ROM units seem to be failing and they are a strange 2X unit with a non standard protocol. Computer repair guys can't seem to find a compatible CD ROM.

The Dealer I used to work at has one that does not work anymore.

Try to see if someone in your area has an operating unit.

sorry the xjs-r is different and pdu will not work. the computer he needs i have used many times and i went to school on them back in the day when that car came out new and you had to order it from jaguar and then they would ship it to your dealer in a large case and it came with every sensor and
injectors and any thing you would need to fix the car that could cause the check engine light to come on and then you would ship back and they would charge you for what you used. only one kit still in service from jaguar. parts now are hard to find for that model xjs-r

 

i do know someone in the midwest that has a working pdu and will rent it out if needed.
