Default Door rubbing strips

Hi All, Does anyone know if the door rubbing strips are available. The chrome plastic coating has started to deteriorate on mine and they need replacing. I did wonder if I could swap them for the later 300 door rubs, but would like to keep my car original if possible. I have tried all the usual sources with no success. Any ideas?
Cheers everyone, Dave.

Dave,

David Manners in Birmingham is showing stock:

SIDE MOULDING
Part No BDC 5723
£47.60 + vat

The X300 side mouldings are a completely different part number ( HNA5707AAXXX ) which suggests they wouldn't be interchangeable.

Thanks Graham. I have owned my 1990 XJ40 for ten years now and have to say I still think it is a great car. These cars are not such a common sight anymore and I think they are beginning to rise in value. I think Top Gear must take some responsibility for disappearing XJ40s, they seem to trash one every week in some kind of stunt.

Yes - they are becoming a rare sight in the UK.

I had one from 1989 to 2001 and covered 77K miles with it. However, it did have the bonnet boot and sunroof panel replaced during that period as the originals rusted out.

I'm sure you are right about the values. Low numbers and good condition with the remaining ones means the only way is up.

Graham
