Default Exhaust tips

My Exhaust tips don't look so good, just cuz they aren't very clean. You can see in my photo gallary that the bottom of the tips aren't chrome anymore, they are just like black.

I want to replace it with a tip that looks like it is something stock on a jaguar, not aftermarket. Want my car to stay classy.
Do any of you know a good place to buy these, or a specific tip I may want to look at.

Default RE: Exhaust tips

(can't see any exhaust tips in the picture), do you mean the stain that forms under the tips because of the water produced by the catalytic converter ??

original Jaguar tips were polished stainless steel. The XJ-6 came with "S" shaped tips from 1968 through 1987. The XJ-40came withstraight, rolled-edge tipsin '88and '89, then in '90 they came out with a ugly, cheap, chromed, ovaltip that looks likethe mouth of a catfish. Yes it looks aftermarket.

I have two original 1988 XJ-40 straight/rolled stainless tips which I had installed in my '84 XJ-6 until I realized that there was a reason for the "S" shaped tips of the Series 3 XJ-6, (to divert exhaust gases away from the car), so Ire-installed the original tips!

Lately all I see are chrome copies of the original XJ-6 and XJ-40 stainless tips,
butif the tips are stainless, you can cleanthe stain. If they are chromed, the staineventually becomes permanent.

I'm pretty sure it's a permanent stain, but once I find some of that never-dull i will check to be sure.

Jose Do u live in UK or US, cuz I don't know if your talkin bout the US tips. My exhaust is a twin exhaust, but they aren't oval I don't think, they are just round. It's a 93, I will try to get a better picture, but I think you can see a little bit of the exhaust in there.

ok, now I see them, didn't know about the little camera...

yes I'm talking about USA tips, (but it doesn't matter what country - they are all the same), and your car seems to have the correct straight tips with rolled edges. They should be stainless steel unless they went chromed steel by 1993....

I would try removing them and cleaning them. if they are stainless they will clean up nicely.I suppose you could try theregular chrome steel ovaled tips from 1994-on, but you will find thatJags don't look right with any other tip than the factory tips. Yes,all Jagscame witha twin exhaust except a few of the old Big Saloons.

Yea I know, but there must be some tip somewhere that will look stock.

Hopefully these will clean up good, cuz right now they look ugly with the stain on the bottoms.

Don't Know, my 93 XJ40 hasround chromed tips not oval?? Anyhow try to clean them with an SOS pad. Worked really well on mine, Otherwise any good muffler shop should be able to make up a set of stainless tips along the lines of your stock ones. I'm thinking of changing mine to a stainless tip with a 45 degree cut off. Kinda like the Mustang GT or cobra tip, but smaller.

I think I wrote in a earlyier post I used Nevr Dull...Thats the company and product name, but Eagle One also makes the same stuff, I think they made a deal where eagle one markets Nevr Dull so more car owners buy it. Never tried the eagle one Nevr dull but I'm sure it's the same

I may have a before pictue, and i will take an after picture soon
