Default Front window cracked help!

Hello fellow Jaguar forum members!
(long story)
About a week ago i was getting a box out of my attic and i tripped and went right through the dry wall and a board from the attic hit my windshield and cracked it. I called my insurance company because all auto glass is covered, two days later the gentleman showed up to replace my windshield and said, " I have to order the molding for around the window because it cannot be reused." They where very friendly and ordered the molding through a Jaguar dealer for me however, today they called and told me the parts came in but its the wrong molding and Jaguar no longer supplies the molding. Does anybody know where i can order the molding and frame for the windshield? Or if the old molding and frame can be reused? thanks again!

It will really help folks help you if you posted the year, make, and model of the car and your locale.

You might try entering "Jaguar and parts" in a search engine. When I added "Georgia" to the search, up popped Coventry West (Atlanta). Then I looked a but deeper and....

The words "cannot be re-used" may not be entirely correct. I would think the moulding can be re-used, but to extract it for re-use without damaging it in the process is probably very time confusing, and this is a risk that the screen company won't want; they want easy and quick jobs, and who can blame them.

It might be better for you to take off the trim and cracked screen yourself, and see of you can extract the moulding intact and undamaged. These mouldings can be very difficult to remove without damage as they are also secured by the screen adhesive. Also a screen that has been in as long as yours tend to be much more difficult to remove.

Normal removal method is to use cheesewire to cut the screen seal; there is normally a piece of moulding that is removed to let you push a bradawl through to make the hole for the cheese wire. I watched a technician replacing the windscreen on my Mazda Xedos a few years ago, and it is not an easy job getting the screen out even having the necessary tools. Do you know anybody local in the trade ?
